February 22 - Meeting Notes from the 2009 Organizational Meeting

  • Meeting: Eight of the ten teams were in attendance for this meeting.

  • Reserved Player List: The Reserved Player List contains names of the Franchised Players each team is claiming for the upcoming season.

    • This list must be submitted at the Organizational Meeting and before the Supplemental Draft.

    • Players submitted on this list cannot be removed once submitted except in the case of a serious injury.

    • A serious injury has been defined as a player who is listed on the MLB 60 day injury list.

    • Players projected as missing a significant amount of time due to suspensions are not eligible to be removed/replaced from the list until after the upcoming draft.

  • Franchising: It has been agreed that starting with the 2010 season all teams will be able to Franchise up to five (5) players.

  • Supplemental Draft: All of the managers present at the meeting agreed that a minimum of three (3) players must be franchised allowing for two (2) supplemental picks, if desired.

    • The Supplemental Draft will occur within a reasonable time period after the list of Franchised Players has been submitted. If possible (and preferably), it will occur during the Organizational Meeting.

  • Draft Date: March 22, 2009 at 1:00 PM.

Updated Information - March 22, 2008

  • TIE BREAKER: As decided by league vote, we will adopt the Runs Produced category as the weekly tie breaker. This is due to the CBS site not allowing for custom tie breaker categories. They will only allow preset Offensive or Pitching categories to be used. They do now provide any cross-over statistics to include both hitter and pitcher data.

  • PITCHING CONFIGURATION: As decided by League vote, we will utilize a pitching staff containing 5 Starting Pitchers and 2 Relief Pitchers. It was originally agreed that we would use 4 Starters, 2 Relivers, and 1 Utility Pitcher but the CBS site does not allow for the Utility Pitcher to be used in conjunction with the SP and RP positions.

Meeting Notes from the February 23rd Organizational Meeting

  • MEETING: Nine of the ten of the teams were represented at this meeting, including both of the expansion teams.

  • HOST SITE: It was unanimously agreed upon that we will use CBS Sportsline to host our league for the 2008 season. The combination of league customization along with the management tools made it the best choice for us.

  • 2008 DRAFT LOCATION: The draft will be held on March 22nd at Marion Courtroom. The time has yet to be determined, although it will be sometime after 1:00 PM.

  • DRAFT ORDER: The draft order was drawn for the 2008 Draft. In subsequent seasons a snake draft will be held to determine rosters. The worst record from the previous season will choose first in odd rounds and the reverse in even rounds.

  • RULE CHANGES: The following changes were agreed upon and will become active for the 2008 season.

    • Lineup changes:

      • Changes to the lineup for the current week may be made up to one (1) hour before the start of the first game of the week. Lineups for a particular match-up run Monday through Sunday.

      • The Lineup will implement a Utility Pitcher position. It will change from using five (5) starters and two (2) relievers to four starters (4), two (2) relievers, and one (1) utility pitcher.

    • Tie Breakers: The tie breakers will be changed to (1) Runs Scored + Strikeouts and (2) Home Runs + Saves.

    • Disabled List: There will be a maximum of two (2) players allowed on the DL by any one team at any one time.

  • SCHEDULE AND PLAYOFF FORMAT:

    • The length of the season will be changed from 21 weeks to 20 weeks to accommodate the extra games needed to support the expansion.

    • Playoffs:

  • FRANCHISING: Starting in the 2009 season, each team will have the opportunity to tag three (3) players as Franchise Players. In 2010 the league will allow each team to add a fourth (4) Franchise Player and in 2011 each team will be able to keep a fifth (5) Franchise Player. After the 2011 season there will be a one year freeze on expansion. At that point the league will vote on whether to add more or maintain the number of Franchise Players for another year.

    • Trades: Any trade regarding franchise players and the draft, must be made 48 hours prior to the draft. NO EXCEPTIONS.

    • Franchise List: A list Franchise Players must be submitted prior to the draft at the Winter Organization Meeting, which will be held shortly after pitchers and catchers report. The players on the franchise list are final, barring injury. If an injury occurs and a team wishes to exercise the option of making a change, it must be done prior to draft day so that all other teams can be notified.

    • Supplemental Draft: Teams have the option of reserving the maximum number of franchise players or entering a supplemental draft prior to the league draft to fill those spots left vacant by unreserved Franchise Players. The draft will be performed the same as the league draft; a snake draft in order of finish with the worst record making the first selection.

Meeting Notes from the December 8th Year End Meeting

  • HOST SITE: We will be looking into using a different web site to host our league. While everyone liked the tools offered by Yahoo!, no one liked the way they kept track of wins and losses. It was also discussed that the league conform to the Yahoo! standings method, but it was unanimously rejected.

  • EXPANSION: It was also agreed that the league will look to expand to 10 teams. The expansion will increase prizes and competition. As of February 1st, the two new team managers have been approved and will be set for the February Meeting.

  • FRANCHISING: The league members participating in the December meeting also voted on implementing Franchise Players. While the number of players is still undecided, it was agreed that the league will use this years draft to prepare for the use of franchising a player for the 2009 season.

  • NEXT MEETING: A meeting to discuss new rule changes be held on February 23rd. We will also cover any questions and concerns about the new stat service.

  • 2008 DRAFT: A tentative date for the 2008 draft is set for March 23rd. There is an Opening Day game scheduled to be played in Tokyo on the 25th with the rest of the league to start beginning March 30th.
